Hunt Photos
Here are quite a few shots taken from a January, 2012 hunt outside
Charlotte, Texas -- one in which we got one hog pretty quickly.

Waiting to be unleashed. (Note the facial scars left from previous hog encounters.)

Hogstickers' own Blade, wearing extra-high brush boots that protect his lower legs.

Hogstickers Chris (top), Blade (right), and Justin check the collar and kevlar vest on one of the catch dogs.

And they're off: Waiting for the hounds to pick up a scent.

Brush! Sure, the road is nice and clear, but it's the other stuff here that we have to run through -- in the dark, no less. Note the prickly-pear cactus.

Success! 11:15 p.m.: He's hard to see in the center here, but this is the front end of a 250-lb boar that met up with a $19 Bowie knife from Walmart. The two clients at left from Virginia got the bragging rights.

Hogstickers' Justin with the head the next morning.

Giving the dogs some electrolytes after a long night hunting.

Patching up: That's a ten-inch-long tusk gash on the rib cage under several staples and a lot of iodine.

Ready to go back out.

One pretty hound.

Surprise: A dead hog killed by the dogs alone during the night (when we couldn't quite catch up to them), found in a creek bed the following morning. Note that the dogs actually managed to break the hog's snout completely.

Taking a break

Another surprise: a dead hog and a dead coyote, shot the day before by some hunters on the last day of deer season and left by the road.

Hogstickers huntmistress Kaycee pulls a catch dog back to the truck.

Waiting to head home.
